Kubernetes Monitor

By: Snyk

Snyk integrates with Kubernetes, enabling you to identify vulnerabilities in your container images and running workloads, and detects pod configurations that might make those workloads less secure. Snyk Container can be used in the IDE, from the CLI and plugs into existing CI/CD pipelines. If workloads are deployed outside the standard process, the integration ensures one-off workloads are scanned. The integration provides up-to-date security status for running workloads, including any new vulnerabilities that have been discovered after the workload was deployed, and Snyk Container’s Kubernetes monitoring makes these reports clear. The Snyk Monitor can be deployed to VMware Tanzu clusters to enable monitoring and can either automatically detect new or changed workloads or manually select workloads to monitor continuously.

Features
  • Get developer-ready base image recommendations, and automatically update to resolve vulnerabilities
  • Find and fix vulnerabilities in open source dependencies imported from Dockerfile commands with actionable remediation advice
  • Detect and report on Kubernetes workloads as they are deployed and updated
Benefits
  • Continually monitor deployed container images for new security vulnerabilities get fix recommendations to help address issues
  • Improve security posture by continuously monitoring within Snyk and fixing issues early in the development lifecycle
Prerequisites
  • This solution requires you to have a Snyk account
How it Works
  • Deploy Snyk Monitor into a VMware Tanzu cluster
  • Select workloads for security monitoring within Snyk
  • Automatically detect workloads as they are deployed by using Kubernetes annotations
